Installation Guide

Installation Overview

Everything you need to install, operate, and maintain your AAB pump safely and efficiently. For optimal performance, safety, and product longevity, we strongly recommend that all AAB pumps are installed by a qualified technician. Improper installation may affect system efficiency, reduce pump lifespan, and may void warranty conditions. If you require assistance, our team can support you with professional installation services. For customers who prefer to install the pump themselves, we have provided an overview below along with access to technical documentation. Installation requirements vary depending on the pump type, so please refer to the appropriate section for your product. For full technical details, always consult the official product manual provided with your pump. Relevant manuals are available for download below.

Pump Installation by Product Type

APS SERIES (Circulation Pumps)

1. Pre-Installation

  • Verify pump model and voltage match system requirements
  • Inspect the unit for any transport damage
  • Flush the system to remove debris before installation

2. Mounting

  • Install the pump with the motor shaft in a horizontal position only
  • Ensure flow direction matches the arrow indicated on the pump body
  • Install isolation valves on both sides of the pump for maintenance access
  • Ensure the pump casing is fully flooded to prevent air pockets

3. Electrical Connection

  • Connect wiring according to the diagram on the terminal box
  • Use a suitable circuit breaker or fuse (2–4A)
  • Ensure proper grounding is securely connected
  • Avoid connecting or disconnecting cables while power is active

4. Operation

  • Fill the system completely with water before starting
  • Vent all air from the system
  • Select appropriate speed based on system demand
  • Check for leaks during initial startup
  • Avoid continuous operation at maximum speed unless necessary
SURFACE PUMPS

1. Installation Environment

  • Install in a dry, well-ventilated area (max. 40°C)
  • Protect from rain, humidity, and direct sunlight
  • Mount on a solid, level surface to reduce vibration
  • Ensure the motor shaft rotates freely before startup. If stuck after storage, rotate manually before use. If unused for long periods, manually free internal components before restarting

2. Positioning & Setup

  • Install as close as possible to the water source
  • Ensure all piping is properly supported to avoid stress on the pump
  • Avoid overtightening fittings to prevent damage or leakage

3. Piping & Flow Setup

  • Suction pipe diameter must be equal to or larger than the pump inlet
  • For suction lifts greater than 4m or long horizontal runs, use a larger pipe diameter
  • Ensure suction line slopes slightly upward toward the pump
  • Suction pipe must be airtight and submerged at least 0.5m

4. Recommended Components

  • Foot valve (bottom of suction line)
  • Non-return valve
  • Gate / flow control valve
  • Sand filter (for water containing debris)

5. Critical Operating Rules

  • Avoid running the pump dry
  • Always prime before operation
  • Disconnect power immediately if dry running occurs
  • Ensure proper grounding before operation

6. Electrical & Safety

  • Ensure proper earthing before operation
  • Do not handle electrical components with wet hands
  • Do not connect grounding to gas pipes
  • Always switch off power before any electrical work

TROUBLESHOOTING

Find quick solutions to common issues using the guidance below. Always disconnect the power supply before performing any servicing, and ensure that installation and maintenance are carried out by qualified technicians. If the problem persists after troubleshooting, please contact our support team or an authorized service provider for further assistance.

APS SERIES (Circulation Pumps)
Pump is not starting

Possible Causes:

  • Switch is set to OFF (position 0)
  • Insufficient water flow to activate the flow switch
  • Foreign material inside the flow switch

Solution:

  • Set switch to AUTO (II) or MANUAL (I)
  • Ensure flow exceeds minimum requirement (2 L/min)
  • Clean the flow switch and connectors
Pump does not stop when tap is closed

Possible Causes:

  • Switch is set to MANUAL (I)
  • Flow switch obstruction

Solution:

  • Switch to AUTO mode (II)
  • Clean the flow switch and connectors
Pump is running but no pressure

Possible Causes:

  • Main tap is closed

Solution:

  • Open the main tap
Pump is noisy during operation

Possible Causes:

  • Air trapped in the system
  • Debris inside the pump
  • Cavitation or low inlet pressure

Solution:

  • Allow water to circulate and bleed air
  • Disassemble and clean the pump if needed
  • Increase inlet pressure or reduce pump speed
SURFACE PUMPS
Thermal protection activates frequently

Possible Causes:

  • Voltage too high or too low
  • Impeller obstruction or internal contact
  • Faulty capacitor

Solution:

  • Verify voltage is within ±10% of rated value
  • Clean impeller and check internal clearance
  • Replace capacitor if defective
Pump does not discharge water on startup

Possible Causes:

  • Air trapped in suction line

Solution:

  • Inspect suction piping
  • Ensure airtight connections
  • Perform air bleeding
Pump runs even when water is not being used

Possible Causes:

  • Leakage in piping or fittings
  • Mechanical seal leakage

Solution:

  • Check and repair leaks in pipes and joints
  • Replace mechanical seal if required
Flow rate is insufficient

Possible Causes:

  • Blocked filter or foot valve
  • Impeller partially blocked or damaged

Solution:

  • Clean filter and suction line
  • Inspect and clean impeller and pump casing
